Our History

We, Tim Hyland and Kathy Hyland, owned another successful flooring store, Floor Covering Brokers in the area for 20 years. We sold it in 2004 and after being semi retired for seven years decided to return to what we know and love, flooring, in 2011!! The rest is history.

Tim Hyland

Owner/ Sales

Tim has really been around the block! He started out back in the mid 80’s as an installers helper and from there worked in the warehouse at Contract Carpets in Traverse City. In 1986 Tim opened his first flooring store Floor Covering Brokers and then later Cash n Carry Carpet in Traverse City.

Tim enjoy his farm in Buckley MI and loves to spend time with his five children and three grandchildren.

Kathy Hyland

Owner/ Everything else in the office!

Kathy has also been in the flooring for many many years. Beginning in 1988 when she met Tim. Kathy handles really all aspects of the store other than sales. If you have a question don’t hesitate to shoot her an email. Kathy enjoys gardening, in particular garlic and her honeycrisp apple trees!

Jessica Bogart

Vice President of Operations

Jessica Bogart has joined Bay View Flooring as VP of Operations. She recently moved back to Northern Michigan from New York City where she was the Director of East Coast Sales at Magnetic, a company specializing in advertising technology. During her 5 years at Magnetic she held multiple roles and titles in both Business Development and Media Sales. Prior to her time at Magnetic, Jessica was National Sales Manager for 4 years at ECO PHYSICS. Jessica likes to spend her free time in the outdoors of Northern Michigan, she is an avid Stand Up Paddle boarder, and loves spending time with friends and family.

Whitney Radtke

Showroom Manager

Whitney was born and raised in Petoskey, MI, and recently moved to the Traverse City Area this Spring. Even though Whitney is new here to the Bay View Flooring Team, she has been involved in the flooring industry for the past 5 years co-owning a flooring installation business with her fiancé. When she’s not at work, Whitney loves spending time with her 5 year old son, fiancé and 2 dogs.

Bill Black

Sales Associate

Bill has been in the flooring business for many years! Bill recently came to us from Floor Covering Brokers. This man is a pro! He knows it all when it comes to flooring. Bill likes to spend time at his cottage on the lake in the summer and heads for Florida when he has time in the winter months.

Gary Bebeau

Sales Associate

Gary is a veteran at 30 years in the flooring industry! Working previously at Menards in Milwaukee, Wi, Carpet Warehouse and Design Center in Las Vegas, NV, Cash n Carry Carpet and Floor Covering Brokers in Traverse City and then owning his own store TC Flooring. Gary is wild about fishing and hunting and spends his spare time with his wife and son..

Jason Harris

Sales Associate

Jason has been in the flooring business in the Traverse City Area for 25 years. After a brief hiatus, he is back doing what he loves. He enjoys the satisfaction of designing custom looks for his clients. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, fishing, hiking, and just getting outdoors.

Robin Whipple

Sales Associate

Robin has been in the flooring business since 1988, previously working for VanDrie Home Furnishings and Miles Tile & Stone. Robin handles all aspects of the flooring and tile selections process and would love to help design your new home or home improvement project. When Robin is not at work you may find her working in her yard and enjoying time with family and friends.

Patrick Siler

Sales Associate

Patrick has been living "Up North" for 10 years, after residing in the Grand Haven area for 25+ years. He has chosen to join us, after flourishing with another flooring dealer in Northern Michigan. Patrick brings over 30 years of "Doing what he say’s he will do" resulting in lifelong clients and friends. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and family at his cabin with no cell phone. In the winter you might catch him racing his Vintage 1978 Polaris TX snowmobile.

Barb Nelson

Sales Associate

Barb Nelson has joined the sales team at Bay View Flooring with an extensive background in design. Born and raised in Miami Florida she comes with experience in both flooring and window treatments. She loves helping customers realize their dream of a beautiful home!

Nate Houle

Sales Associate

Nate was born and raised in Leelanau County. In 2001, he moved west to attend the University of Colorado. Upon graduation Nate moved even further to Montana, pursuing his passion for the outdoors. In 2014 his ties to the tri-county area proved too strong and Nate ultimately gravitated “home”. He now resides in Lake Leelanau. Nate is new to the flooring industry but is ecstatic to be a member of the team. His background is in Marketing and Construction but he’s the epitome of an outgoing people person. In his free time Nate enjoys manufacturing and consuming sandwiches and all other types of food; and spending time on his boat. His motto is, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.”

Michelle Maul

Administrative Assistant

Michelle is a current resident of Benzie County. New to the flooring industry, she is enthusiastic to utilize her years of administrative and financial experience with Bay View Flooring. In her spare time Michelle enjoys; her horses, fishing, music, literature, spending time with her children and boyfriend, and any outdoor activity.

Lauren Lempe

Administrative Assistant

Lauren was born and raised in Cadillac, MI, and then in her adult life moved to Chicago, IL to experience the big city life. She recently moved back to Northern Michigan and is happy to be near the Traverse City area again. Lauren is new to the flooring industry but is loving being a part of the Bay View Flooring team! When she’s not at work, Lauren loves seeing live music, going to the beach and enjoys traveling.

Jeffrey Paterik

Jeff grew up in Traverse City and is excited to be back in the area post college graduation. He has a great deal of accounting experience and is excited to be a valued member of the Bay View Flooring team. In his free time he enjoys shooting archery, taking it easy with friends, and gaming.

Jonathan O’Conn0r

Customer Service Manager

Jonathan brings several years of experience in the hardwood sanding & resurfacing business to Bay View Flooring. Originally from the Metro Detroit area, he has been in Traverse City for 8 years now. In his time off Jonathan enjoys cooking and being outdoors with his beautiful children.

Cassandra Nelson

Front Desk

Cassandra was born and raised in the Traverse City area, she grew up in the quaint village of Suttons Bay, Michigan. She brings with her nine years of customer service experience and is excited to join the Bay View Flooring team. In her free time she enjoys; spending time with her husband and three cats, going to the movies, reading, and trying new Traverse City restaurants.

Marla Garchow

Measure Technician

Marla Garchow has been working in the flooring business as a measuring tech for five years. She has been in the flooring business for approximately eight years and enjoys meeting with homeowners, helping them by using technology to get the best measures to fulfill their ideal expectations. Marla lives in the South Boardman/Fife Lake Area and enjoys her time in the sun and outdoors as much possible.

Randy Merchant

Warehouse Manager/ Sales Associate

Randy has been in the flooring biz for 15 years, this guy knows it all! Randy says his career hi-light was going back to work for the best employers around! Randy used to work at Cash n Carry Carpet in the 90’s. He enjoys coaching little league baseball, gardening, his four wonderful children and is a hunting and fishing guy as well.

Shane Behrens

Shane is a Michigan native who is new to the flooring industry. He previously worked in the construction field and is honored to be part of the Bay View Flooring team. Shane spends his free time with his partner Renee’ and dog Harmony exploring our beautiful Up North attractions.

Lucas Dillon

Lucas was born and raised in Traverse City, MI, and has been in the flooring business for 17 years. He has 2 children, ages 9 & 12. In his free time he likes to go down the river, go fishing, and loves to mountain bike and snowboard with his kids.
