Our Team

Tim has really been around the block! He started out back in the mid 80’s as an installers helper and from there worked in the warehouse at Contract Carpets in Traverse City. In 1986 Tim opened his first flooring store Floor Covering Brokers and then later Cash n Carry Carpet in Traverse City.

Tim enjoy his farm in Buckley MI and loves to spend time with his five children and three grandchildren.

Kathy has also been in the flooring for many many years. Beginning in 1988 when she met Tim. Kathy handles really all aspects of the store other than sales. If you have a question don’t hesitate to shoot her an email. Kathy enjoys gardening, in particular garlic and her honeycrisp apple trees!

Jacob has 8 years of operational flooring experience and joined us after relocating from Austin, Texas. Jacob has dual-managed 2 warehouses in Austin and San Antonio and also managed a Quality Assurance team for Floors Inc. After deciding it was time for a change, he reached out to flooring companies in cities he would like to live in. Traverse City was high on the list after numerous trips to visit friends who had previously made the same move. Serendipity led Jake to Kathy, Tim, and Bay View Flooring. He enjoys playing guitar, kayak fishing, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Korey started in the flooring business over 20 years ago. He has done nearly every job possible from installation, warehouse, quality assurance and customer service. In Texas he was Director of Operations for several years which gave him the opportunity to oversee operations for four busy locations. In an attempt to escape the heat, he is excited to be up north where he is planning to spend lots of time outdoors kayak finishing with his longtime friend and co-worker, Jake Garcia. He also enjoys hiking, traveling and trying new restaurants with his wife, Megan.

Randy has been in the flooring biz for 23 years, this guy knows it all! Randy says his career hi-light was going back to work for the best employers around! Randy used to work at Cash n Carry Carpet in the 90’s. He enjoys coaching little league baseball, gardening, his four wonderful children and is a hunting and fishing guy as well.

Joe was born and raised in Michigan. He is married with two kids. In his free time , he enjoys camping, kayaking and playing guitar.

Niki joins our team after spending 11 years in the spa and fireplace retail industry, with over 15 years experience on the administrative and financial side of the construction trades and home retail.

Originally from the Metro Detroit area, she fell in love with Northern Michigan while attending high school in Glen Arbor. She is mom to two children, a blue heeler, and a black cat. In her free time she enjoys kayaking, hiking, and looking for the best hidden rock hunting beaches on Lake Michigan.

Jeff grew up in Traverse City and came back to live here after college. He has accounting experience on both sides of the book and is looking forward to being a valued member of the Bay View Flooring team. In his free time he enjoys shooting archery, taking it easy with friends, and gaming.

Shannon was born in Florida and raised in Leelanau County. New to the flooring industry, she brings 15 years of financial experience and customer service. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, catching up on some reading while snuggling with her cat, soaking up the summer sun, and going out with her friends.

Kyla was raised in Kingsley, MI and recently bought a house in Traverse City. She has a background in data management and customer service. When she is not working with the Bay View team, she is walking her 2 dogs, Lady and Bug, painting, and cross stitching.

Kyrie was born and raised in Buckley, Mi. She attends Northwestern Michigan College with a major in business. In her free time, she enjoys camping, playing with her dogs and being outdoors (especially in the summer). She is new to the flooring environment but excited to learn and grow with the Bay View team.

In 2008, Larry relocated to Northern Michigan from Little Rock, Arkansas. While new to flooring, he has a lifetime of hands-on experience from the construction and manufacturing trades. Larry attended NMC, where he received a formal education in engineering technology and advanced manufacturing, earning two degrees. His interests include architecture and photography and he enjoys woodworking, hiking, and trying to find his golf ball that is somewhere in the trees just off to the right of the fairway.

Bill has been in the flooring business for many years! Bill recently came to us from Floor Covering Brokers. This man is a pro! He knows it all when it comes to flooring. Bill likes to spend time at his cottage on the lake in the summer and heads for Florida when he has time in the winter months.

Cindy started working in the flooring business back in 1996 for Tim and Kathy’s original Cash N Carry Carpet! Cindy has approximately 10 years flooring experience and is excited to be coming back into the industry. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her grown kids Andrea and Joe, as well as her dog Benson. Cindy also enjoys crafting, reading and being outside.

Gary is a veteran at 30 years in the flooring industry! Working previously at Menards in Milwaukee, Wi, Carpet Warehouse and Design Center in Las Vegas, NV, Cash n Carry Carpet and Floor Covering Brokers in Traverse City and then owning his own store TC Flooring. Gary is wild about fishing and hunting and spends his spare time with his wife and son..

Jason has been in the flooring business in Traverse City for over 30 years. He enjoys helping people achieve the looks and comfort that flooring provides, whether its remodeling your home or building a new home. In his free time he enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening, hiking and fishing to name a few.

Robin has been in the flooring business since 1988, previously working for VanDrie Home Furnishings and Miles Tile & Stone. Robin handles all aspects of the flooring and tile selections process and would love to help design your new home or home improvement project. When Robin is not at work you may find her working in her yard and enjoying time with family and friends.

Jodie Schwandt comes to Bay View Flooring with 10 years of sales and design experience in furniture and is excited to dive into the flooring industry. She is originally from South Carolina, but has fallen in love with all that Northern Michigan has to offer. She loves to use her creativity in helping clients achieve their desired look for their new home or renovation. In her free time you can find her skiing in the winter or tubing on Torch Lake in the summer with her family.

Jean brings 16 years of tile layout and design experience with her as well as 12 years of commercial healthcare design. She loves helping people bring together beautiful and functional end results for their interiors while staying within a desired budget. When she’s not here, She likes spending time with her husband Terry, friends, and sister. She enjoys biking, hiking, and sailing our beautiful lakes.

Maggie was born and raised in Traverse City. After graduating from Michigan State University, she returned home to spend over 14 years in working in hospitality. She is new to the flooring industry but can’t wait to put her artistic abilities to work. Maggie has a creative eye and is excited to help make your design dreams and home renovations become a reality. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, boating, camping and working in her garden. She is a true northern Michigan girl.

Toby is new to Michigan, but not to flooring or sales. With a background in customer service and design with 10 years in high end retail fashion and custom suiting. In his free time he likes to play chess, collect Magic: The Gathering trading cards, and relax with his 9 year old Red-Nose Pit, Cassius.

Karen has been in the Home Fashions industry most of her career.  She has lived and worked in the Traverse City and Frankfort area for the last 28 years specializing in Flooring and Tile Design.  When not working you can find her on the water kayaking or entertaining friends and family.

Nathan was born and raised in Traverse City, MI. In his free time, he enjoys watching  NASCAR and fishing.

Tim grew up in Cadillac, Michigan and is a Veteran of the US Army after 6 years of service. He enjoys hunting, fishing, auto racing and restoring classic cars.

Travis Hartman, originally from Alpena, MI, joined the Army after graduating from Alpena High School, where he spent 7 years working on Satellite Communications. After his discharge from Military service, Travis worked as a private contractor in Afghanistan repairing and programming radios. Travis is the proud father of 2 children. In his free time, Travis enjoys hockey, playing games online with his son, and enjoying all of the snacks!

Ben was born and raised in Traverse City. He has about 17 years of installation experience, and in that time has also multi-tasked as a floor covering store/warehouse manager and sales associate. Ben worked as an in-house installer for Tim and Kathy when they owned Floor Covering Brokers and couldn’t be happier being with them again. He enjoys cooking and spending time with friends and family.

James grew up in Traverse City. He has gained attention to detail and a good work ethic after running a lawn crew for 13 years, and started doing a little flooring with Paul Schaub in 1999. He has 3 kids and enjoys snowmobiling and water activities

Paul was born and raised in Traverse City, MI, with 29 years of excellent flooring installation experience. Paul enjoys spending his down time, snowmobiling, boating and basically any outdoor activity.

Paul Mahn has worked in construction for over 21 years. He has experience in multiple levels of the building process from framing to siding and multiple steps in between. Paul joins the Bay View Flooring team after owning his own tiling business for many years. In his spare time Paul likes to spend time with family and friends. He enjoys being outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Kyle has lived in many places around the US but it wasn’t until he moved to Austin Texas in 2017 that he learned he has an artistic skill for tile. He came back to his hometown, Traverse City, and has been perfecting his art since. When he’s not working he enjoys biking, golfing, camping, and spending time with family.

Not far from home but Tom grew up in Manchester, Michigan. He has been installing flooring for 26 years. In his spare time Tom enjoys being with friends and family. He loves to travel and bicycling.

Lucas was born and raised in Traverse City, MI, and has been in the flooring business for 17 years. He has 2 children, ages 9 & 12. In his free time he likes to go down the river, go fishing, and loves to mountain bike and snowboard with his kids.

Born and raised in Traverse City, Kevin has been in the flooring business since 1994. He began learning the trade at R J’s Floor Covering, and then moved to work for the Hyland’s at Floor Covering Brokers as an installer until leaving the state for his wife’s job in 2003. He then opened his own floor covering installation business and was successful in growing that business in both Kansas and in Minneapolis. He grew his company through pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and his professional service.

This year, 20 years after he first started with Tim and Kathy, he is excited to be back in Traverse City and working for them again as an in-house installation professional, specializing in all floor surfaces. Kevin enjoys the outdoors and is looking forward to snowmobiling, fishing, kayaking, and boating, now that he is back in Northern Michigan.

Donavon Wix joins the Bay View team with his son, Darian, bringing with him 32 years of flooring installation experience. A proud Native American, he moved to Northern Michigan from the Detroit area to be closer to his tribe and closer to nature. In his free time, you can find him outdoors! He enjoys hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, and ATV trail riding.

John joined the team at Bay View Flooring after running his own flooring installation business for 32 years.

Johnny had been involved in the construction trades since his teenage years. In his free time, he enjoys watching and participating in many different sports.

Matthew started installing floors in high school through a co-op program with Bay View Flooring. Due to his hard work and dedication, he was offered a full time position to continue his training. In his free time he likes to spend time with his family and friends.

Matt Morgan is motivated to learn new things and this has served him well in his flooring installation apprenticeship. When he’s not at work, you can find him enjoying every minute he can with his two beautiful daughters hunting, fishing, camping, and learning about homesteading and off grid living.

Shane has been working in the home interior trades in the Traverse City area for seven years. He is a proud Michigan Alumnus – GO BLUE! When he is not working, you will find him enjoying the Northern Michigan outdoors – snowboarding, dirt biking, boating, and hunting. Shane loves spending time with his wife and son taking in everything the Traverse City area has to offer.

Darian Wix is following in his fathers footsteps, working with his dad, Donavon, as an installation apprentice to learn the trade. In his spare time he enjoys motorcycles and powerlifting.
